Missouri Society · Sons of the American Revolution

Keeping the Revolution on the record in St. Louis.

We find and mark the graves of Revolutionary War patriots, teach the founding in local schools, and honor those who serve — and any man who descends from a patriot is welcome to join us.

What the chapter does

Three jobs, done by volunteers, year after year.

Preserve the records

We locate and document the graves of Revolutionary War patriots in eastern Missouri, set bronze markers, restore stones that have weathered past reading, and file the research so the next generation does not start over.

Teach the founding

We run essay and oration contests in area high schools, award an Eagle Scout scholarship, and bring the Constitution and the color guard into classrooms that ask for us.

Honor those who served

We lay wreaths at veterans’ graves, post the colors at civic observances, and present commendation medals to law enforcement, firefighters and emergency responders.

2026 Chapter Appeal

Help us put a marker on every patriot grave in Missouri.

Four hundred documented Revolutionary War patriots are buried in this state. Fewer than half have a marker. Our members find them, verify the record, and pay for the bronze.

Patriot Grave Marker Fund

More than four hundred Revolutionary War patriots are buried in eastern Missouri, and many of their graves carry no marker at all. Each bronze marker the chapter sets costs roughly two hundred dollars, and that is before the flag holder, the genealogical research needed to document the burial, and the dedication ceremony that follows. Your gift pays for markers, restores headstones that have weathered past reading, and funds the archive work that finds the next unmarked grave.

My great-grandmother kept a name and a date on a card. The registrar turned it into a documented line in eleven weeks.
